Old SchoolHouse Gallery August Exhibition "Textures in Nature"
Community events
Textures in Nature” is the August Exhibition at the Old SchoolHouse Gallery. Members Kathy Delaney and Kate Stimson are joined by their guest Stephen Schumacher – all interpreting textures in nature through their own creative mediums.
Kathy Delaney paints the textures of the sea, rocks and foliage in oils revealing both the soft edges and harsh surfaces that we see in the environment around us.
Kate says she has always been a creative soul. She enjoys playing with the subtleties of colours that complement one another then adding layers of finer details with patterns and textures creating a sensory experience.
Stephen began his wood turning experience with a wonderful teacher/turner who instilled in him the maxim “We are making a thing of Beauty”. From there he became heavily involved in the world of woodcraft especially woodturning. "It is my therapy, my hobby, and a great joy in my life.”

Winning More Research Funding - By Design
Community events
Unlock funding. Drive impact. Elevate your research.
Great research deserves great results—but too often, R&D projects fail before they even begin. Why? Because impact starts with design. Without a strategic approach, key insights are missed, funding is lost, and valuable research goes nowhere.
This workshop is your fast track to mastering R&D project design—helping you create projects that attract investment, deliver value, and drive real-world change. You’ll learn how to structure projects for success, choose the right design approach, and align with investor expectations.
If you’re tired of stalled projects and "unfortunately, you were unsuccessful" letters, this session will give you the practical tools and strategies to turn ideas into funded, high-impact research.

On the other side of the world, Laurie tolerates university only at the insistence of her father, a Marxist professor. Her mother died in childbirth, and Laurie dreams of freedom,…
