Canvas, and the other learning technologies that are available to the Emory community, are continuously updated with new features and code enhancements. In this session we will look at some of the highlights that have been added recently. These include enhancements to the New Quizzes tool, the Course Import Tool, the Files page, Discussion tool enhancements and other elements in Canvas.
In recent months new functionality in Poll Everywhere has also been rolled out with more on the way. Most significantly is the integration of Poll Everywhere Activities with the Canvas Assignments tool.

This event arose from the thought that "appropriation" is a term to mark a failure of appropriately acknowledging one's creative sources, where "appropriate" might involve showing respect for, being generous with, even honoring the source, whether a person or a tradition.

Relaxed Mornings are for anyone who would appreciate a calmer visit to the museum. Scheduled on the first Saturday of each month, Relaxed Mornings are primarily for, but not limited to, autistic young people and adults; adults living with mild cognitive impairment; and any other visitors with sensory needs or who may prefer a more relaxed experience, along with their families, friends, and care givers.
Sensory friendly bags are available for all guests at the Information Desk on Level One. These bags include an assortment of items to help visitors better enjoy our galleries. Three types of fidget toys and noise cancelling headphones are included for those who may need additional sensory support. There is also a KultureCity lanyard that guests can wear, which includes QR codes to helpful information. For those who may need assistance with sharing their needs or feelings, we provide an emotion/needs card that allows guests to communicate with staff.

Cardiovascular nurse scientist Christopher S. Lee, a Barry Family/Goldman Sachs Endowed Professor in Nursing at the Boston College William F. Connell School of Nursing, has dedicated his career to better understanding heart disease and improving long term outcomes for patients and their families.
He is known for his expertise in heart failure self-care and symptom science and patient and care-partner dyadic research in chronic conditions, as well the application of advanced statistical methods. Dr. Lee’s research involving older adults with heart failure has been supported by grants, such as the National Institutes of Health and the American Heart Association, and has earned him multiple honors including induction into the Sigma Thea Tau International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame in 2024.

"The Secret Diaries of Charles Ignatius Sancho: A Novel," named one of NPR's Books We Love, is a lush and immersive tale of adventure, artistry, romance, and freedom set in eighteenth-century England and based on a true story. Rose Library is teaming up with the Jane Austen Society of North America (Georgia Region) this September to celebrate the life and times of beloved British author, Jane Austen. “Celebrating 250 years of Jane Austen” is an all-day seminar that will include talks from well-known Austen and Regency scholars, a viewing of rare Austen editions, crafting, and a live taping of JASNA’s Austen Chat podcast. There will also be Austen novels and the speakers’ books for sale.
The seminar will take place in Emory University’s Rose Library on Saturday, September 20, 2025 from 9am to 4pm. Acclaimed for its dynamic performances and fresh approach to classical music, the Grammy Award-winning Harlem Quartet is joined by Cuban pianist and composer Aldo López-Gavilán for a program full of exuberance, and spirit in a mesmerizing combination of classical perfection and virtuoso jazz featuring Schumann's beloved Piano Quintet in E-flat Major, followed by a journey through Cuba’s myriad musical traditions with works by López-Gavilán.
Having toured as a quintet since 2015, this ensemble has developed a cohesive and powerful sound. Art History
Relaxed Mornings are for anyone who would appreciate a calmer visit to the museum. Scheduled on the first Saturday of each month, Relaxed Mornings are primarily for, but not limited to, autistic young people and adults; adults living with mild cognitive impairment; and any other visitors with sensory needs or who may prefer a more relaxed experience, along with their families, friends, and care givers.
Sensory friendly bags are available for all guests at the Information Desk on Level One. These bags include an assortment of items to help visitors better enjoy our galleries. Three types of fidget toys and noise cancelling headphones are included for those who may need additional sensory support. There is also a KultureCity lanyard that guests can wear, which includes QR codes to helpful information. For those who may need assistance with sharing their needs or feelings, we provide an emotion/needs card that allows guests to communicate with staff.

The late Zakir Hussain composed Murmurs In Time as a commission for Third Coast Percussion, combining the beauty and complexity of Hindustani classical music with the singular sound world of this Grammy Award–winning percussion ensemble. Salar Nader—tabla virtuoso and protégé of Hussain—will perform with Third Coast Percussion in honor of the composer's profound legacy. Art History
Relaxed Mornings are for anyone who would appreciate a calmer visit to the museum. Scheduled on the first Saturday of each month, Relaxed Mornings are primarily for, but not limited to, autistic young people and adults; adults living with mild cognitive impairment; and any other visitors with sensory needs or who may prefer a more relaxed experience, along with their families, friends, and care givers.
Sensory friendly bags are available for all guests at the Information Desk on Level One. These bags include an assortment of items to help visitors better enjoy our galleries. Three types of fidget toys and noise cancelling headphones are included for those who may need additional sensory support. There is also a KultureCity lanyard that guests can wear, which includes QR codes to helpful information. For those who may need assistance with sharing their needs or feelings, we provide an emotion/needs card that allows guests to communicate with staff.
