Paddle Full Moon - Erie Canal Fairport
This full moon paddle will launch on the Erie Canal in the village of Fairport, just west of the lift bridge. Enter the large parking lot opposite the RV&E Bike shop, proceeding to the far end. We'll paddle west through Perinton Park, returning after dark. The parking lot is well lit and does not close after hours. PDF required, hydration and head lamp recommended. Genesee River - Mt Morris to Indian Fort
This is a one-way paddle on the Genesee River between Mount Morris and the Indian Fort Nature Preserve; there will be a car shuttle. We will be going with the current and paddling about 2 hours for a distance of 5.4 miles. Depending on the water level, there may be shallows where you would have to get out and walk your boat and/or sections with Class 1 moving water. Bring a lunch as we will stop along the way, beach our boats and eat our sandwiches.

We will meet at the John Wesley Powell Riverside Park & Boat Launch on Swett St in Mount Morris. Arrive early enough to unload your boat and be ready to leave at 9:30 to shuttle cars to the take-out at Indian Fort Nature Preserve on Jones Bridge Rd, Geneseo. We will aim to be back at the park and on the river by 10:30. There is a restroom at the park.

The launch site has a concrete ramp and steps but doesn't make for an easy put in so we will help each other get in our boats. At the take-out, there is a fairly steep, approximately 100' dirt path…

Bike Ride Pittsford to Perinton on Erie Canal and Trolley Trail
We'll meet at 9:45 AM with wheels rolling at 10:00AM. From the Great Embankment Park (631 Marsh Rd. Pittsford), we will ride east on the Erie Canal Trail, through the village of Fairport then cross the canal onto the Trolley Trail and head south to Rt. 31. We will return along the same route. The roughly 17-mile round trip is mostly flat, with gravel or paved surfaces. Please wear your helmet, dress for the weather and bring water and a snack. You must read and sign the ADK's Release of Liability" form which I will have at the parking lot. Non-GVC members can only join one ride each year due to insurance restrictions. Sunday Hike in Webster
Join in Sunday morning, August 17 for an approximate 5.5-6 mile hike at a moderate pace. Expect about 2.5 hours of hiking after meeting at 8:45 am and departing at 9am. Parking is at Gosnell Big Woods Trail Parking. The hike will cover the perimeter of Gosnell Big Woods and Whiting Rd Nature Preserve. Hills are moderate and about three quarters of the hike is wooded area and one quarter open meadow. There is one road to cross involving the connector trail. Paddle - Oak Island to Geneva and return
We will launch at the Oak Island Community Center which is located at Oak St. in Waterloo, NY. There is a concrete pad for launching, we'll paddle west on the Seneca River for 5 miles, we'll take a break, have our lunch (that you bring with you) at Seneca Lake St. Park. There are bathrooms and picnic facilities at the park. We will then return to Waterloo/Oak Island where paddlers will have a choice of ice cream either at Mac's Drive Inn or Prepp'ys , Both are located on Rt. 5&20. Of course, Peg will probably be at both!! Time and weather permitting, we may cross Seneca Lake and tour the visitors center at the north end of the lake or explore part of a hidden creek on the way back to our launch site. This is a longer paddle , In the range of 4 hours so be prepared, water conditions are mostly protected and we will not go out onto the lake if windy.

Sunday Hike - Huckleberry Bog and Bristol Hills Trail
Please bring cash for your share of $20 per car; it will be about an hour and 15 minutes ride. This loop plus out and back hike is about 6.8 miles total on Bristol Hills Trail, map B3. Visit the famous Evangeline Lean-to and learn about the Bog. Bring a lunch and drinking water, dress for the weather. Bug spray may be needed and it is tick season! No dogs please. Additional Information: The Sunday Hikes are offered as a benefit to current and potential new members of ADK. All our hikes have a steady pace, so are not "nature strolls" but they are also not "endurance tests" although we do at times hike at a brisk pace. Bring plenty to drink. Equally important is the proper footwear, gear and clothing for changing conditions. This hike could take 3.5+ hours, plus shuttle and travel time, and many times unexpected delays can occur, so if you are pressed for time, this hike may not be a good fit. CANCELLED - Ellison Park Hike (Moderate)
We’ll meet in the parking lot on the north side of Blossom Road at 11:45am to start our hike prompt at noon. Our travels will take us about 5 miles, over both flat and hilly terrain. Finger Lakes Trail Maintenance Day
Group work day for the 10 miles of the Finger Lakes Trail maintained by GVC. Carpooling from Lowes Marketplace/Henrietta is encouraged. Fall maintenance consists of cutting back summer weed and brush growth, trimming bushes and trees that have grown into the trail and cleaning drainage channels so they are clear for spring runoff. Typical work day ends early to mid afternoon.

This is an 11:00 paddle - hoping the day warms up a bit by then as it'll be October. We'll meet at the boat launch off Lake Ave in Charlotte and paddle south on the Genesee River.
