Experience Algonquin Workshops The Friends of Algonquin Park are pleased to offer on-the-water Experience Algonquin Workshops for visitors who wish to learn the basics of canoeing. Designed for participants that have no, or little, canoeing experience, spend 3-hours learning the fundamentals of tandem canoeing with a certified canoe instructor. Discover canoe strokes from the bow and stern, how to safely enter and exit a canoe, how to stay upright, what to do in an emergency, portage techniques, and much more. An excellent workshop for family members, or for former canoeists, wishing to improve their skills on the water and build their confidence with safe canoeing practices.Requirements, No canoeing experience is required. This workshop is perfect for anyone who is currently writing, or who has ever wanted to write. With a focus on nature and self-discovery, this  writing workshop is an exploration of what we need to find wellness, and a discovery of who we are today. Algonquin Logging Museum The Algonquin Logging Museum brings the story of logging to life, from the early square timber days to modern forest management practices. Enter the Reception Building and watch a short video presentation about the logging history of the Algonquin Park area. Then head outside on the easy-to-walk 1.3-kilometre trail with a trail guide to a recreated camboose camp, fascinating steam-powered amphibious tug called an "alligator" and many more outdoor forestry exhibits. The Algonquin Logging Museum Reception Building is also home to The Friends of Algonquin Park Bookstore and Nature Shop featuring books, merchandise, and souvenirs about Algonquin Park and its logging history.
