Veterans Tribute Grows at the Ocean County Library Waretown Branch
WARETOWN – A year ago, a small photo array in the Ocean County Library Waretown Branch honored several former military members in honor of Veterans Day. Today, thanks to community members who have added to it, the display fills an entire wall and is still growing.
Branch Manager Jennifer Lennon placed the first photos before Veterans Day 2023, a gesture for family members and friends who “wore the colors.” It caught the attention of patrons, visitors and neighbors who asked if they might contribute.
“We still have people coming in and taking time to look over the pictures,” Jennifer said. “They ask if everyone is local. Some ask to be added. It makes me happy every time it happens.”
There now are 55 images of local wartime and peacetime veterans, five times the size of the original display, complete with names, branches, and theaters of operation.
“I grew up in a military family. My dad, uncle and grandfather all served. So I have always had a very healthy respect for the military and its traditions,”…

Revelations: An Evolution of Introspection
Twenty years ago, New Orleans underestimated the impact of Hurricane Katrina. After Katrina hit land, aging infrastructure failed, an entire city was thrown into an unimaginable hellscape of flooding waters and crumbling humanity, and the United States Government proved institutional neglect, and systemic inequalities were (and are) still very much a part of the American way of life – especially for people of color. Two photographers, Donald Camp and Clarence Williams, reflect on that history today in their two-person exhibition Revelations: An Evolution of Introspection at the InLiquid Gallery in the Kensington neighborhood in Philadelphia, PA. With this exhibition, InLiquid aims to educate our community and share resources to prevent such tragedies from happening here in the Kensington area of Philadelphia. Ideally, this artwork and the education our programming will provide can also be shared as a resource in cities throughout the country as global climate change continues to evolve and creates the need fo…

About the Exhibition: The Marvin Samson Museum for the History of Pharmacy presents work by Artist-in-Residence Teresa Cervantes. Drawing on traditions of apothecary craft, pharmaceutical marketing, and visual art, Cervantes' compounded artistic approaches divulge the hope, fear, and purpose contained within the domestic medicine cabinet. As sites of ritual self-construction, medicine cabinets are porous spaces bridging the personal and political, the corporal and corporate. Slayed By the Bell
Slayed By the Bell is a murder mystery parody that takes audiences back to the halls of Bayside High — but this time, with a deadly twist.
Taking place at the Red Rum Theater in the heart of historic Philadelphia, this interactive comedy follows the gang as they prepare for their graduation dance. Mr. Belding is set to crown the King and Queen — a title that now comes with a coveted scholarship. Zack is determined to win (as usual), Lisa is in it for the fashion, Kelly dreams of college, and Slater needs to cheat just to qualify. Meanwhile, Jessie is on a mission to cancel the tradition altogether.
But before the night ends, someone won’t be making it to graduation.
Audiences are encouraged to come dressed in their best 90s gear — scrunchies, flannel, windbreakers, and all — to really get into the spirit of this killer throwback event.
Slayed By the Bell runs August 15–17, with evening and matinee performances. Tickets are $25, and cocktails will be available for purchase at the venue. While this is not a…

This reenactment is the primary fundraiser for the Moland House, which served as General George Washington’s headquarters while he and his 11,000 troops encamped near the Neshaminy Creek for 13 days to watch the movements of the British army as it sailed south from New York toward Philadelphia in August 1777.
Washington based his decision to encamp in the area on its strategic location; the Moland House sits near Carr’s Hill, which is the highest point of elevation between the house and a straight line to the Jersey shore, and the Neshaminy Creek. This encampment was hugely significant for it was here that the Marquis de Lafayette was commissioned as a…

Developing a Heartfelt Practice: The Importance of Logic & Reasoning in Meditation
Meditation can seem like a method to empty our mind of thoughts to become peaceful. This method will only work temporarily. Buddha taught how our thoughts are internal paths – when channeled in a beneficial direction, and supported by logic and reasoning, they can actually guide us to a stable heartfelt experience of peace and relaxation.
This half-day course will be guided by Gen Kelsang Wangpo, a visiting guest teacher from Kadampa Meditation Center Texas. He will give teachings and guide meditations on the use of contemplation in a meditation practice.
Gen Kelsang Wangpo has been a devoted student of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche for over 20 years, he has taught Kadampa Buddhism across the U.S. Gen Wangpo is known for his practical approach to presenting ancient Buddhist wisdom. He is deeply appreciated for his clear, inspiring teachings and his ability to connect with others through loving-kindness and compassionate care. With particular skill in presenting profound topics in an accessible way…

Join Golden-Thread Labyrinths co-founders, Dr. Dylan Odhner (Mythological Studies) and Rev. Alan Cowley (Artist and Labyrinth Designer) for a workshop series exploring the power of labyrinth meditation and applied mythology—create & take home your very own finger-labyrinth(s)!
The human story is not new! Our modern experiences, while clothed with the fabric of our time, are fundamentally the same experiences that have always been happening. The stories (mythology) and symbols (like the labyrinth) that we hold on to and pass down through the generations, some for many thousands of years, are like the threads of a beautiful tapestry showing us an image of all that it is to be human, from our various backgrounds.

The killer has created a scavenger hunt that, if you can solve it, reveals his name, the weapon he used and where he hid the body in the museum. By following the trail of clues and answering tricky questions, you’ll narrow the list of suspects, weapons and possible crime scenes to provide the police with the evidence they need to catch and convict the killer. Can you figure out whodunit? Advance purchase is required.

Night Hawk with Máty, Rescue Pets, and Lo-Priestess
The Brunswick, Maine-bred indie rock group Night Hawk celebrates their bold new record, alongside luminaries of Philly songcraft.
Night Hawk is an American indie rock band from Brunswick, Maine, now based in Washington, D.C. Originally a songwriting vehicle for Colter Adams (Indigo Boulevard) and Peyton Semjen, the project has evolved into an acclaimed live act, earning a devoted following for its delicate guitar work, enchanting harmonies, and clear-eyed lyricism.
Night Hawk’s music is defined by stark geometry and bold imagery, underpinned by a deep sense of melancholia and repose. Drawing on themes of urban isolation, childhood nostalgia, and the catalogue of 20th century painter Edward Hopper, the band blends traditional folk elements—fiddle, arpeggiated acoustic guitar—with the raw energy of barnstorming indie and alternative rock, creating a sonic palette that is as expansive as it is emotionally precise.
Night Hawk has shared the stage with nationally touring artists includin…
