Visceral Movement Theory™ — Flow & Partnering
Building on foundational biomechanical concepts, students investigate how intention and connection shape the relationship between bodies. Through contact-based exercises, dancers will experience weight sharing and counterbalanced movements that emphasize trust and responsiveness. Prior partnering experience is not required — students of all levels will find opportunities to challenge themselves and build connection through movement.
Samuel Hobbs, artistic director of push/FOLD dance company, joins the Dance Program Sept. 21-27 to teach classes for university students, provide outreach experiences to surrounding communities and set work on UIdaho Dance Ensemble, which will be showcased in the company’s performance at 7 p.m. on Sept. 27 at the Hartung Theatre.

Narcan and Opioid Response Training
Vandal Health Education
Knowing how to prevent or respond to an opioid overdose can make all the difference. In this workshop, participants will learn how to reduce opioid-related risks using harm reduction approaches, know how to recognize the signs and symptoms of an opioid overdose and understand how to respond to an opioid emergency by administering Narcan. Participants will also learn where to access harm reduction materials and be given Narcan for their first aid kit, student club or living group.

Basics clinics consist of learning how to tie the figure 8 follow-through knot, belay using a manual breaking belay device and cover proper communications between climbers and belayers.

Graduate Writing Symposium - AI: Ethics and Use Cases

This series of workshops is designed to help graduate students across disciplines develop a strong sense of genre-specific writing critical to success in academia. In the first workshop, we will cover the various uses of generative AI in graduate level writing, as well as the ethics of using AI in your academic writing. Additionally, we will cover the new graduate school AI policy for academic writing to make students aware of the official university stance—this will include how improper use of AI will be identified and what actions can be taken against students who use AI improperly in their academic work while at UI. In the second session, we will cover the basics of what a teaching statement is and how to write one. Presenters will cover how this statement should be structured and what content employers are likely to look for in your statement and how you can make your statement stand out.
