Nature lovers ages 55 and older can join a naturalist at 9 am once a month in the spring for an hour-long trail walk and nature talk. A different topic will be covered each week. Also, keep any eye out for a potential campout date during the summer, details TBD.

Help restore native habitats. Join us every week to manually remove invasive species on the property. Invasive weeds crowd out native species and impair the habitat. Volunteers should be able to walk over uneven ground, bend over for extended periods, work outdoors in a variety of conditions, and comply with the safety guidelines. Volunteers should wear closed-toe sturdy shoes, pants, hat, and sun protection. Bring plenty of water and snacks if needed. Work gloves, shovels, and trowels will be available to borrow but we encourage you to bring your own. Ages 16 and over.

Backyard Birdwatching: Make Your Own Bird Feeder!

Birds are a delight to watch and hear, and they’re even better to watch from the comfort of your own home. In this program, you’ll get crafty with a DIY wooden bird feeder that you can decorate and then hang up in your backyard to attract birds. As you paint, you’ll learn all about backyard bird watching in Utah and then get a chance to see ONC’s birds of prey. All supplies will be provided but feel free to bring your own crafting items if you’d like. Pre-registration deadline is May 17th.

Guided Bird Walks

Guided by an ONC naturalist and in the company of fellow bird nerds, take a tour through 1.5 miles of walking trails meandering through the Nature Center. Learn about different species that migrate in and out of our region seasonally. The series will take you from winter through spring migration. We encourage you to bring your own binoculars, but spares are available to borrow.

Join us for a morning of peace and mindfulness with certified Forest Bathing Guide, Ian Napper! Forest Bathing (aka shinrin-yoku) is an opportunity to slow down, come home to the present moment, reconnect to Nature, and create spaciousness. This hour-and-a-half session will guide guests with invitational options into mindful movement, mindful breathing, centering, directed awareness, and other experiential practices while we engage with moment and the more-than-human-world. Help restore native habitats. Join us every week to manually remove invasive species on the property. Invasive weeds crowd out native species and impair the habitat. Volunteers should be able to walk over uneven ground, bend over for extended periods, work outdoors in a variety of conditions, and comply with the safety guidelines. Volunteers should wear closed-toe sturdy shoes, pants, hat, and sun protection. Bring plenty of water and snacks if needed. Work gloves, shovels, and trowels will be available to borrow but we encourage you to bring your own. Ages 16 and over.
