Ogden Nature Center

The Ogden Nature Center is a 152-acre wildlife sanctuary and education center located in the heart of Ogden, Utah. We offer over 1.5 miles of trails with an observation tower, two treehouses, bird blinds and two beautiful green buildings. We offer the best in environmental education and nature study. We are also home to a wild bird care program. We are open Mon.-Fri. 9-5 and Sat. 9-4.

Senior Strolls

Community Classes in Nature Nature lovers ages 55 and older can join a naturalist at 9 am once a month in the spring for an hour-long trail walk and nature talk. A different topic will be covered each week. This class is designed to improve the health, wellbeing, and socialization of people 55 and older. Participants will learn the basics of djembe drum technique. The class series culminates in a performance for friends and family.  No prior experience is needed. Participants do not need to bring anything with them, but should dress comfortably to allow free movement. Classes are progressive, so attending every class is recommended. Volunteer Activities Help restore native habitats. Join us every week to manually remove invasive species on the property.  Invasive weeds crowd out native species and impair the habitat. Volunteers should be able to walk over uneven ground, bend over for extended periods, work outdoors in a variety of conditions, and comply with the safety guidelines. Volunteers should wear closed-toe sturdy shoes, pants, hat, and sun protection. Bring plenty of water and snacks if needed. Work gloves, shovels, and trowels will be available to borrow but we encourage you to bring your own. Backyard Birdwatching: Make Your Own Bird Feeder!

Community Classes in Nature Birds are a delight to watch and hear, and they’re even better to watch from the comfort of your own home. In this program, you’ll get crafty with a DIY wooden bird feeder that you can decorate and then hang up in your backyard to attract birds. As you paint, you’ll learn all about backyard bird watching in Utah and then get a chance to see ONC’s birds of prey. Guided Bird Walks

Forest Bathing

Community Classes in Nature Join us for a morning of peace and mindfulness with certified Forest Bathing Guide, Ian Napper! Forest Bathing (aka shinrin-yoku) is an opportunity to slow down, come home to the present moment, reconnect to Nature, and create spaciousness. This hour-and-a-half session will guide guests with invitational options into mindful movement, mindful breathing, centering, directed awareness, and other experiential practices while we engage with moment and the more-than-human-world. Volunteer Activities Help restore native habitats. Join us every week to manually remove invasive species on the property.  Invasive weeds crowd out native species and impair the habitat. Volunteers should be able to walk over uneven ground, bend over for extended periods, work outdoors in a variety of conditions, and comply with the safety guidelines. Volunteers should wear closed-toe sturdy shoes, pants, hat, and sun protection. Bring plenty of water and snacks if needed. Work gloves, shovels, and trowels will be available to borrow but we encourage you to bring your own. Volunteers should be able to walk over uneven ground, bend over for extended periods, work outdoors in a variety of conditions, and comply with the safety guidelines. Volunteers should wear closed-toe sturdy shoes, pants, hat, and sun protection. Bring plenty of water and snacks if needed. Weed 'em & Reap

Volunteer Activities Help restore native habitats. Join us every week to manually remove invasive species on the property.  Invasive weeds crowd out native species and impair the habitat. Volunteers should be able to walk over uneven ground, bend over for extended periods, work outdoors in a variety of conditions, and comply with the safety guidelines. Volunteers should wear closed-toe sturdy shoes, pants, hat, and sun protection. Bring plenty of water and snacks if needed. Work gloves, shovels, and trowels will be available to borrow but we encourage you to bring your own.
