Virtual Weight Training Class with The Whole U

Make time for training with weights and join Lauren Updyke for a 30 minute intermediate class each Tuesday and Thursday in April at 6:15 a.m. on Zoom.  You will need two sets of weights at least (5lb - 25lb range) and a chair. This class will include total body and focus on both large and small muscle groups. Gallup's Clifton Strengths Development Session

Human Resources With over 50 years of Gallup research, the Strengths assessment can help us understand our strengths and what we are good at. According to Gallup “people who focus on using their strengths are six times as likely to be engaged in their jobs.” Participants in the virtual session will gain an awareness of their own unique blend of talents and an appreciation of the valuable contributions they offer. Human Resources According to the Gallup book “Wellbeing at Work,” Gallup has been monitoring Net Thriving since 2005. They describe Net Thriving as having the best possible life. The book is based on over 100 million Global Gallup interviews. Wellbeing encompasses the broader holistic dimensions of a well-lived life. Electrical Engineering Research Talk: Stop the Music!

School of STEM Have you ever gone out to dinner with friends and found yourselves shouting to be heard above loud music and high background noise? In this presentation, we’ll discuss how the scenario led to the "cone of silence" project, how several teams of capstone students contributed to its development, and the current state of the research. Speaker Bios: George Cheruvathur is a Computer Engineering graduate from the University of Washington with industry experience as a Software Development Engineer at Amazon Web Services. His work spans cloud-based distributed systems, embedded real-time computing, and FPGA development. He is passionate about combining software and hardware to solve complex real-world problems. Arnie Berger is an Associate Professor in the EE degree program in the School of STEM. In 2008 he chaired the faculty committee that created the EE degree program. How have ecological communities recovered since this major disturbance? Come learn how plants have recolonized, survived, and adapted to this once barren environment. Discover how this natural experiment has provided valuable lessons on ecological resilience in an era of major global change.  Dr. Cynthia Chang is an Associate Professor at University of Washington-Bothell, School of STEM, Division of Biology. She is a plant ecologist who has done long term research on Mount St. Helens since 2011.
