The UW LLC English Conversation Practice Hours are currently held during winter quarter once per week. All members of the UW community are encouraged to attend: Undergraduate Students , Graduate Students , Staff , Faculty, The hours will be facilitated by a TESOL-certified instructor. Students will practice in small groups, with discussions and practice activities guided by an instructor.
There is a cap of 20 people for each hour, on a first-come, first-served basis. If all slots are filled for the next session, please add your name to the waitlist. If a slot opens up, we will let you know. It is also helpful for us to know how many people are interested in participating.

Student-Faculty Pedagogical Partnership: Present Potential and Future Preparation
Biography: Alison Cook-Sather is the Mary Katharine Woodworth Professor of Education and Director of the Peace, Conflict and Social Justice Studies concentration at Bryn Mawr College, and Director of the Teaching and Learning Institute at Bryn Mawr and Haverford Colleges. Alison’s research focuses on how differently positioned participants in education can work together toward more equitable and inclusive learning. She is an internationally recognized scholar on student voice work, particularly student voice in teacher education and professional development, and on pedagogical partnership in higher education. Alison has consulted on pedagogical partnership at over 80 institutions on six continents and published over 100 articles and book chapters and eight books, including Co-Creating Equitable Teaching and Learning: Structuring Student Voice into Higher Education, Promoting Equity and Justice through Pedagogical Partnership, and Engaging Students as Partners in Learning and Teaching: A Guide for Faculty. Integrating Text-to-Speech Technology into World Language (UO-UW Language Educators Spring Summit)
Ezgi Yalçın is the director of and lector in the Modern Turkish Program at Yale University. An applied linguist with over a decade of experience in teaching, she focuses on the social and individual variables in the acquisition of Turkish as a world language.
This workshop presents the latest research and applications of text-to-speech (TTS) technology in world language teaching.
After participants explore various TTS tools for developing listening materials, they will be able to create recordings in their target language.
