Plum Island Niagara Escarpment Field Day

The incredible cliffs on the western side of the Door Peninsula are a part of the same Niagara Escarpment which the powerful Niagara River slices through at Niagara Falls. This rock ridge extends more than 650 miles through Central and Northeast Wisconsin, the upper peninsula of Michigan, Southern Ontario, and upstate New York.
Join Don Mikulic, with the Niagara Escarpment Resource Network (NERN) to learn about the globally significant unique features of the escarpment; natural, cultural, historical and environmental.
After the presentation, take a hike to see where the escarpment is present on Plum Island and learn about the plants that are dependent on this rare geologic formation.
Transportation from Gills Rock provided aboard FOPPI’s charter boat, The Shoreline.

Mercer, WI– The Town-Wide Rummage Sale will be on Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 9am to 4pm. There are multiple rummage sales going on throughout the Town of Mercer. These sales may include items, such as furniture, home décor, antiques, appliances, tools, sporting equipment, and much more.
Maps will be available to pick up at local businesses on June 18, 2025. More information and digital copies of the maps will be posted via facebook and on the Mercer Chamber Website.
To be included on the Mercer Town Rummage Sale Map registration fee to be on the map is $10. Residents are able to sign up until June 13, 2025

In this creative and hands-on STEMii Art Robotics Camp, students will explore the intersection of technology and art using the LEGO Education SPIKE Prime kit. Campers will build and program robots capable of drawing and tracing unique paths, transforming simple movements into dynamic works of art.
Students will learn how to code their robots to follow custom-designed routes, experiment with color, shape, and movement, and watch their artistic visions come to life—one line at a time. Blending STEM with the arts, this camp encourages both technical problem-solving and creative thinking. No prior experience is needed, just curiosity and imagination!

Mercer, WI– The Mercer Area Chamber of Commerce has reinvented our Can-Yak Fishing Tournament by creating the Mercer Open All-Species Fishing Tournament on Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29, 2025. Event Host is Liberty Way Tap House.
Making the Can-Yak tournament one division that allows anglers fishing only in canoes and kayaks only. The second and new division is an Open Division. The Mercer Open All-Species Fishing Tournament is a family-friendly tournament that allows Anglers to enjoy two days of fishing on the lakes and rivers of southern Iron County, Wisconsin in canoes/ kayaks or any other type of water vessel while competing in a catch-photo-release style tournament.
The event kicks off on Friday, June 27 with registration and Meet & Greet from 5-7pm. The tournament begins at 6am on June 28th.. Fishing for the day ends at 3pm and participants must report their catches by 4:30pm. A cook-out follows catch validation on Saturday evening. 4th of July Celebration in Mercer

The Annual Mercer 4th of July celebration kicks off the morning of July 4th begining with our parade through Downtown Mercer on Highway 51.
Lineup will start at the Mercer Ranger Station at 10AM and the parade officially begins at 11AM making its way through downtown Mercer.
The entrants of the parade will be judged upon their parade float, Walking Groups and Classic. Voting on the parade entries will be done online this year so viewers are able to participate even if they are unable to attend.
Following the parade, the day will continue at Carow Park, full of food, drinks, kids games and great company from 3pm until dusk.
Mercer hopes to see you and your family for another wonderful 4th of July celebration!

Yoga and Wine with the Alpacas

LondonDairy Alpacas is offering Yoga and Wine with the Alpacas for the fifth consecutive year and to partner with Bay Area Yoga again. LondonDairy has a different approach to yoga because we know yoga practitioners are very serious about their mind and body. Bring your mat and perhaps a water bottle. Your session will begin by welcoming all participants (ages 8 and up are welcome) and explain our approach to yoga with the alpacas.
Then we practice yoga either on the lawn or inside a pole building depending on the weather.
No, the alpacas will NOT jump on you! After about an hour, where your focus has been 100% on yoga with the instructor, the alpacas are released in the same area with you, to roam freely. No fence between you and the alpacas. We will explain special interactive techniques to use with the alpacas. Everyone will have the opportunity to feed the alpacas and take photos/selfies. We will have baby alpacas, too!

Time to keep a healthful post-Independence Day attitude moving in the right direction! The University of Wisconsin-Extension’s FoodWIse program is hosting a HeartCorps member— HeartCorps being the American Heart Association’s version of AmeriCorps—named Sue Koeppe. Sue is trained to take blood pressure and offer hands-on CPR classes. She will be stationed in the Library’s Inner Lobby providing FREE blood pressure screenings on Thursday, June 10, from Noon until 3 PM to all interested individuals. 5th Annual Mercer Backyard BBQ Cook-Off

Mercer, WI– The Mercer Area Chamber of Commerce has created an Amateur Backyard BBQ event held on July 12, 2025 at the W.S. Carow Park.
The Mercer Backyard BBQ is a fun way to compete in some friendly competition to see who will be this year's Backyard BBQ Champion. BBQ enthusiasts come from all around to compete to see who has the best Brisket, Pork Butt and Ribs.
Grillers begin the event at 5:00pm the evening before to check in and set up. Next up, grills and smokers get fired up for the fun overnight cooking. Brown County 4-H: Camp Corrugated Chaos

In this ALL DAY, three day cardboard camp, participants will battle Lord Whaterbutt, who has stolen all the water in Green Bay. They will need to design and build their own armor and then team up with other participants to make a stronghold. Then, the teams will plan their attack on Whaterbutt Castle with each team being tasked with building one of the needed components of the plan. Can you help defeat Lord Whaterbutt and restore the water supply for all of Green Bay? The Battle will take place in the afternoon of the final day and will involve water balloons, so dress accordingly. Parents are welcome to come watch, more information coming after registration. Participants will learn basic design and engineering skills while having FUN!

The ArtFest Color Run is a great opportunity for participants of any fitness level to enjoy a fun run or casual walk while experiencing the vibrant colors and energy of ArtFest Green Bay in scenic Downtown Green Bay.
This non-competitive 1.5 mile run or walk is family-friendly with everyone becoming a piece of art at the finish! Participants will receive a white t-shirt as their canvas, a pair of sunglasses, and a packet of color to throw at the start. As each participant passes through the color stations they will be doused with brilliant, non-toxic, biodegradable powdered colors. By the end of the run, participants will be covered in a vibrant spectrum of colors, creating a living, moving work of art!

Algoma Concerts in the Park enters its 23rd year of bringing music to the lakeshore in 2025!
In a venue like no other, this free concert series takes place at Heritage Park overlooking
Lake Michigan and the Algoma City Marina.

The natural sloping amphitheater welcomes you to bring your chairs and blankets and relax for an evening of music by the lakeshore

Yoga and Wine with the Alpacas

LondonDairy Alpacas is offering Yoga and Wine with the Alpacas for the fifth consecutive year and to partner with Bay Area Yoga again. LondonDairy has a different approach to yoga because we know yoga practitioners are very serious about their mind and body. Bring your mat and perhaps a water bottle. Your session will begin by welcoming all participants (ages 8 and up are welcome) and explain our approach to yoga with the alpacas.
Then we practice yoga either on the lawn or inside a pole building depending on the weather.
No, the alpacas will NOT jump on you! After about an hour, where your focus has been 100% on yoga with the instructor, the alpacas are released in the same area with you, to roam freely. No fence between you and the alpacas. We will explain special interactive techniques to use with the alpacas. Everyone will have the opportunity to feed the alpacas and take photos/selfies. Sandra Cisneros, the internationally acclaimed author of House on “Mango Street “ and the 2025 Harold Washington Literary Award recipient will be the keynote speaker at the Printers Row Lit Fest which will celebrate its 40th anniversary on Saturday, September 6 and Sunday, September 7, from 10am-6pm in Chicago’s historic Printers Row neighborhood. It will feature more than 70 live programs on 6 indoor and outdoor stages, over 100 independent booksellers, publishers, literary organizations, educational institutions, and much more. Admission to the book fair and literary programs is free.

Would you like to be a Citizen Scientist? Take a cruise across Death’s Door to an island wildlife refuge and learn about Monarch butterflies? Participate in a fun family-friendly activity?
The Friends of Plum and Pilot Islands (FOPPI) are hosting our first Butterfly Cruise! You’ll learn fun facts about the Monarch butterfly, their migration and the role this part of the country plays in it as well as what we can do to protect these fragile creatures.
You will get a chance to net the butterflies, apply a monitoring tag them, and trace their migration south to aid scientists in studying their population and migration patterns.
