Meet Wisconsin Poet Laureate Dasha Hamilton at Caramel Crisp Bookstore

Community Events The Caramel Crisp Bookstore is honored to be hosting Wisconsin Poet Laureate Dasha Kelly Hamilton, on Thursday, May 8th, as she showcases her exciting statewide poetry project, “A Line Meant”! This unique workshop event will be an evening of curation, creation and poetic conversation with Dasha and other Wisconsin poets. “A Line Meant” is an anthology of poetry from across Wisconsin, from established poets to farmers, retirees, inmates and more. Starting with a single line of existing poetry, participants not only crafted their own unique works, but also shared their poems and insights as a form of connective tissue with one another. Like a tree from many roots, “A Line Meant” threads together both the professional and the hobbyist poet, growing new, powerful art from the margins between. Those who attend this amazing event can look forward to a micro writing workshop, a brief talk from Dasha about the “A Line Meant” project and conversations with and readings by anthology contributors. Tales from the Taproom: Episode 2 of An Adults-Only (21+) StorySlam Evening at PetSkull Brewery

Community Events Get ready for another evening of revelations and fun at a microbrewery known for camaraderie and shenanigans. It doesn't get a whole lot better than that! Besides—Everyone has a story to tell! Why not tell yours? No props, no notes. Just five minutes and a true, personal favorite story. Time to tell your tale! The important thing to remember is that this is an evening of true storytelling—not stand-up comedy, not poetry, not a platform for political manifestos or lectures, or doing a reading from an as-of-yet published post-apocalyptic neo-tribal zombie/cyborg saga. It’s a true story zone. Not to mention the fact that Spring has sprung, and there’s a good reason for people to be preoccupied with both The Birds and The Bees—if you know what I mean! Hence, the theme for this evening at PetSkull Brewing Company from 6-8 PM on Thursday, May 8, is "Love Is In The Air!" Good dates, bad dates, unforgettable romantic experiences, whatever you feel comfortable telling! And as this is an Adults-Only event, nothing is… Thursday, May 8, 2025, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Heart-A-Rama

Community Events Heart-A-Rama is a non-profit comedy/variety show put on six nights a year at the Two Rivers Community House in Two Rivers, WI. 2024 marked our 52nd year with over $3.2 million raised for the American Heart Association, along with donations of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to public gathering places throughout Manitowoc County. Heart-A-Rama is like Saturday Night Live with local comedy and a variety of skits, which are locally written and performed. Our audience (we can seat over 300 each night) comes to us to enjoy a night of laughs and fundraising. One of our biggest fundraisers every night is a live auction that takes place at the beginning of the show. This auction, called “The Best Seat in the House,” is of a painted toilet seat signed by the cast and crew. The “Best Seat” auction has become a friendly competition between local businesses and individuals who bid to win it and proudly display their seat in their business or home. These seats have sold anywhere from $1000 to $4000 nightly. Thursday, May 8, 2025, 6:30 PM – 9:00 PM. Two Rivers Community House 1710 W Park St Two Rivers, WI 54241. He will discuss the history of the ancestors who spoke German when they arrived in the U.S. and their origins and what the world looked like back then. Keep in mind, the German Empire didn’t begin until 1871. These ancestors may have been living in what was then Prussia, Bohemia, Bavaria, Saxony or even eastern France under control of Napoleon when they were born. Glenn Miller Orchestra

Community Events ...A Legend Lives On The legendary Glenn Miller was one of the most successful of all dance bandleaders back in the Swing Era of the 1930’s and 40’s. A matchless string of hit records, the constant impact of radio broadcasts and the drawing power at theatres, hotels and dance pavilion, built and sustained the momentum of popularity. Today, the 18 member ensemble continues to play many of the original Miller arrangements both from the civilian band and the AAFB libraries. Additionally, it also plays some more modern selections arranged and performed in the Miller style and sound. Just as it was in Glenn’s day, the Glenn Miller Orchestra today is still the most sought after big band in the world. Wednesday, May 21, 2025, 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM.
